What are the changes to the distribution of audio recordings and audiovisual recordings in future?

The market for audio and audiovisual recordings such as CDs and DVDs has been in decline for some years now. This is why we are developing a new, contemporary business model for this area. Specifically, this means that we are simplifying our tariff structure for customers.

In the course of this change, we will also amend the distribution rules for our members. We are, however, intending to reach a similar distribution level as under the previous model and to keep the impact for those affected as low as possible. In future, work duration will only be taken into account in specific cases, for example.

This simplification may lead to changes in the payout shares of individual works within a product.
These changes were adopted by the GEMA General Assembly in 2024.
