Setlists

  • When do I need to submit a setlist (playlist)?

Whenever we receive a setlist we find out which musical pieces were played at a live event. That way, we can determine which composers, lyricists and music publishers receive royalties for the live performance. The responsibility for submitting the setlist usually lies with the event organiser. They can also delegate that task to the musicians.

    A setlist is required for:

    • Concerts

    • Festivals

    • Events with live music

Please submit your setlists via the Online Portal under  My setlists . Find out more about this, such as how we distribute our collections, under This is how GEMA distributes your money.

Additional information on your setlist is included in our video (part 1).

  • What is a setlist?

A setlist (also track list) is a pre-determined order of songs which are played at a live music event. If you are performing on stage yourself, you will know how important the setlist is for the success of a concert.

For GEMA, too, the setlist fulfils an important role. After all, it is only on the basis of a setlist that we can allocate the collected remuneration for a concert to the creators and publishers involved. That is why we need the setlist 6 weeks after the event at the latest. Event organisers are responsible for submitting the setlist, but they can delegate that task to the musicians, too. At the end of the day, it is them that know best what songs they performed.

  • How do I submit a setlist?

Submit the setlist in our Online Portal:

    1. Go to  My setlists
    2. Select an event.
    3. Enter your performed titles thanks to our works database in just a few minutes.

    Your advantages:

    • You take care that your setlist is uploaded on time.
    • As a consequence, you contribute to distributing the income from the event to the music creators involved.
