Contracts & offers

If you want to change a contract or an offer or have questions about it: Proceed as follows.

Contracts

  • I have moved. Why can I not simply take my contract with me?

This is due to the fact that a contract is always location-bound. After all, the amount you pay depends on the venue or room and its size or capacity. As such, if you move, the old contract will be terminated and you will receive a new one.

  • I give up my business. Why do I not have a special right of termination?

This is how it is governed by our General Terms and Conditions.  To clarify: Quarterly and annual contracts are cheaper when it comes to the per-month rate than monthly arrangements. As a consequence, the contract can only be terminated at the end of the term of contract.

  • I have requested a change to my contract. Why did I receive a notice of termination of the contract?

We can put your mind at rest: If you request a change, you receive a new contract with the desired changes. Prior to that, the old contract will be terminated. It is not possible to simply “rewrite” the contract. Depending on the type of change, the process is as follows:

    1. Company name change: Termination of contract; new offer to the successor; new customer number
    2. Change of the contract term/payment method: Termination of contract; new offer; customer number remains
    3. New/other music use: Termination of contract; new offer for the music use submitted; customer number remains
  • I have given notice of termination of my contract, why has it not been ended immediately?

The actual end date of the contract depends on the notice period. It is best if you check your documents how long the notice period is in your case. If there are still any open issues, please contact us.

  • Why is the contract bound to a location or venue?

A contract generally governs the music use in a specific location.  The amount of your payment also depends on the venue and its size or capacity. As a consequence, contracts are location-bound.

  • Why can I not simply transfer a contract?

Contracts are not transferable. This is why we have to conclude a new contract with the new contractual partner.

  • What is the notice period?

There are various notice periods, depending on which contract term you have selected, whether monthly, quarterly or annually. Your notice period is mentioned in your contract.

  • How can I terminate the contract with GEMA?

The simplest way for you to terminate the contract is via the Online Portal. First, log in to the Online Portal.

    1. Then, go to My contracts in the dashboard.
    2. Select the option terminate contract in case you have active contracts.
    3. Please enter the termination date and the reason for the termination.
    4. Click on send - that’s it!
